About Dr. Cerrati

Dr. Eric Cerrati is a double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon.

Dr. Cerrati completed one of the most prestigious fellowships in the country at the Facial Plastic Surgery Center in Chicago, under the guidance of Dr. Regan Thomas, Dr. Dean Toriumi, and Dr. Steven Dayan.  The program is one of only 46 fellowships in the country sponsored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).  Dr. Cerrati also offered his expertise to the resident head & neck surgeons at the University of Illinois by providing lectures and clinical instruction in the operating room.

Prior to fellowship, Dr. Cerrati completed a 5-year residency in head and neck surgery at New York University, one of the nation’s top programs.  There, he worked with some of the most prominent facial plastic surgeons in the world, including his primary mentor Dr. David Rosenberg.  Dr. Cerrati also spent a significant amount of time during these years working with Dr. Milton Waner, the founder of the Vascular Birthmark Institute of New York.  This experience provided him with unique training in pediatric facial plastic surgery addressing the most rare congenital anomalies. Dr. Cerrati graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Cerrati now serves as an Assistant Professor and Director of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Utah.  He has hospital privileges at the University of Utah Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Center, Primary Children’s Hospital, and Intermountain LDS Hospital.

As a leader in the field, Dr. Cerrati has been invited to speak at national and international meetings.  He has contributed significantly to medical literature with his research and publications in medical journals and textbooks.

Humanitarian Interests

Each year, Dr. Cerrati joins a team of physicians to provide medical and surgical care to those living in underserved countries.  He has traveled to Haiti, Guatemala and the Phillipines performing cleft lip and palate surgery to children who otherwise would not receive proper care.  The volunteer work is supported by Medical Missions for Children.  Additionally, Dr. Cerrati now sits on the FACE-TO-FACE committee through the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.  The program is a humanitarian and educational surgical exchange among international members.  The mission trips provide care to those who suffer from facial deformities caused by congenital birth defects or by trauma.
